gallery. fabrics:
We start with silks, cottons, hemp, linens and wools in a natural or white state, as a painter does with a piece of blank canvas. A wide variety of techniques are used, resulting in contemporary art using historic methods. Fabric is dyed, overdyed, painted, printed, stitched, clamped, folded, layered... on and on.
Inspirations come from many sources; a texture seen on the bark of trees, graffiti on trains, or shapes seen on the facade of old buildings.
"We are committed to creating fabrics that are not mass produced and therein lose the inherent preciousness of each individual piece. Fabrics are important to all of us because of how they make us feel. We all have a favorite coat, pillow, quilt or winter scarf. Creating fiber art is rewarding because it truly can enhance anyone's living experience, and help to make it more pleasurable. We want to help color the world with art cloth...deep, rich, fabulous colors and textures to enhance your home, body, and spirit. "
